Black History Essay Contest MOYFABF 2nd Annual Contest

January 3 - February 28

The history of African Americans plays an important role in American history, not only because of the Civil Rights Movement, but because of adversity, African Americans were vilified for wanting to live a good life in America. Acknowledging the contributions of African Americans is the primary goal of Black History. Black History is about sharing and celebrating stories of the countless men and women who made a difference in our world.

Black History Essay Contest MOYFABF 2nd Annual Contest

1st Place-- Sharlee Shaw--Dr Phillips High School-- Ocee High School, Florida

I am so thankful to have been given this opportunity and I’m beyond excited to have won this contest. In the process of writing my essay, I was able to research a topic that I was thoroughly interested in and learn valuable information that can be shared with others. Thank you!

2nd Place --Sierra Saylor-- Penns Grove High School--Carneys Point, NJ

3rd Place--Keith Thibodaux Jr--Patrick F. Taylor Science and Technology Academy--Lafitte LA

I entered this essay contest at the same time I was writing my research paper for my Civics class, and I was looking for a way to hone my writing skills while also educating myself on the lessons learned in the history of our country. I was very pleasantly surprised when I found out I had won 3rd place! This is the first competition I’ve entered, and everyone around me is so proud of the work I put into it. I appreciate Molden Our Youth for this great opportunity!
